Greenhead presents the 2019 Executive Q&A featuring a slate of executives sharing the moments, tips, guns and gadgets that have made their time in the field special.

Pat Fitts
Director, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission

Number of days you hunt a season?
Ten to 12. But every year, I make the solemn pledge that the next year I will hunt more.

Where do you hunt?
I hunt all over the state of Arkansas with friends and family on both public and private lands. One of my favorite spots is south of Augusta near Gregory with my brother-in-law on his farm.

What kind of gun do you use?
Benelli Super Black Eagle

Favorite duck call?
The one that puts the landing gear down on the greenheads.

Fields, reservoir or timber?
I love any type of duck hunting and the fellowship that goes along with it. But nothing beats an Arkansas green timber hunt when the ducks are falling in.

Rainy, nasty or bluebird sky?
Bluebird all the way

Favorite hunting story/memory?
One afternoon several years ago, we were hunting a flooded field and shooting hours had expired. Everyone unloaded their guns. The young hunters in our group were eager to pick up the decoys and get back to camp to eat the evening meal and play cards. The older hunters knew what was coming and decided there was no hurry to pick up decoys.

Nature put on an amazing show. As the sun set we lay back on the levee and watched as hundreds of teal buzzed directly over our heads to land in the decoys. There were times that the birds were no more than a couple of feet above us. To listen to these young people (who are now adults) retell this experience is priceless. Now that's a good way to end a fabulous day of hunting.

What got you into hunting?
My dad has always been a very hard-working man who expected no less from his children. He was an avid hunter his entire life and would always take vacation to take his kids hunting.

Which Arkansas executive calls ducks the best?
I will give you the politically correct answer and say that I will let the ducks decide this.
